Andrey Slepnev: "The next round of negotiations on a full-fledged Free Trade Agreement with Iran will be held in Moscow in late September"

Such decision was agreed during the meeting held at the EEC venue between the Minister in charge of Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission and Alireza Peyman-Pak, Deputy Minister of Industry, Mining and Trade and President of Iran Trade Promotion Organization.

The dialog partners appreciated the level of trade and economic cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union and the Islamic Republic.

In particular, this year the growth of mutual trade and transit of goods through the territory of Iran in the North – South direction is almost 50%, as noted by Alireza Peyman-Pak.

According to Andrey Slepnev, under the current conditions significant progress in the transition to settlements in national currencies is especially important. "Recently, the key positive development has been the start of trading the ruble-rial currency pair," emphasized the Minister.
The parties outlined a further schedule for negotiations on the future agreement. "We expect significant progress in terms of tariffs, which will draw the final stage of the negotiation process closer," concluded Andrey Slepnev.
