Arzybek Kozhoshev: "International North-South Transport Corridor is a key link in the new logistics"

Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure of the EEC Arzybek Kozhoshev took part in the opening of the Transport Week - an annual International Transport and Logistics Forum - held on November 14 to 17 in Moscow. Business program of the event began with a plenary discussion "Transport of Russia. Growth Strategy in New Conditions" with the participation of Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin, a member of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.
Arzybek Kozhoshev pointed out the current difficulties in transportation along the International North-South Transport Corridor. The presence of unfinished railway sections on certain routes of the corridor, as well as bottlenecks in the land, port and logistics infrastructure hamper full disclosure of the corridor's potential. All these difficulties impede the development of cargo transportation and prevent the increase in freight volumes.

At the same time, the EAEU countries have an understanding of the prospects in this area, and actions are being taken to solve the existing problems.

However, according to Arzybek Kozhoshev, the development of the International North-South Transport Corridor is a key link in the new logistics. The potential of this area has not yet been fully exploited, despite the advantages and possibilities of such a corridor.

The participants of the discussion analyzed the restructuring of the existing transport and logistics chains and the need for the development of transport infrastructure along the North-South, Eastern Corridor and Azov-Black Sea routes. The speakers also considered the necessary support measures for the development of the industry, the problems of growth in the production volume of transport equipment faced by the EAEU countries and increasing the competitiveness of Russian transport through digital projects.
