Mechanisms for eliminating obstacles in the Eurasian Economic Union's internal market, as well as the impact of problematic issues of international carriers on the EAEU development prospects were discussed by attendees of the plenary discussion as part of the International Specialized Exhibition "KyrgyzTransLogistic 2024" held in Bishkek.
Arzybek Kozhoshev, Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission, has recalled in his speech that “in the context of fundamental changes, the creation of new trade markets and the transformation of transport corridors, issues of seamless transportation and the creation of a sustainable transport and logistics framework for the Greater Eurasia are of particular importance.”
The EEC Minister has stressed that a key aspect in assessing the cooperation efficiency is the work to identify and eliminate obstacles in the Union’s internal market.
Currently, the EAEU is working on five restrictions and one exemption in the field of transport. This entails, among other things, the discrepancy between the maximum permissible masses, axle loads and dimensions of vehicles; differences in the procedure for issuing special permits for the movement of large-sized and heavy vehicles; differences in approaches to state regulation of aviation services; the absence of a mechanism for mutual access of vessels flying the flag of Member States to navigation on inland waterways.
“By reducing the number of obstacles on the transport route, we are gradually moving towards the creation of a single transport space and the formation of a common market for transport services of the EAEU,” summed up Arzybek Kozhoshev.
