Interaction between government agencies and business in customs sector discussed in Moscow
Ruslan Davydov, Minister in charge of Customs Cooperation of the Eurasian Economic Commission, took part in the business forum of the CIS Business Center for Economic Development and spoke about trends in developing customs legislation and customs administration practices in the EAEU. The EEC Minister spoke about the work carried out in the Eurasian Economic Union to improve customs regulation to optimize the conditions for foreign economic activity. Namely, it is the improvement of the EAEU Customs Code, development of transit potential, infrastructure of border crossing points and introduction of breakthrough technologies to improve the efficiency of customs control, as well as the development of the labelling system in the EAEU. Ruslan Davydov proposed that entrepreneurs take an active part in advisory committees and working groups functioning within the customs unit of the Commission. He also invited them to the 4th Eurasian Economic Forum to be held on June 26-27 in Minsk. The EEF 2025 business program includes events dedicated to a wide range of relevant customs matters.

Bakytzhan Sagintaev participated in Astana International Forum
On May 29 in Astana, Bakytzhan Sagintaev, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, visited Astana International Forum — the largest annual business event that brings together world leaders, heads of international organizations, investors and business representatives. The motto of AIF 2025 is "Connecting Minds, Shaping the Future". Heads of state, government and international organizations considered a wide range of issues in three key topics of the global agenda: foreign policy and international security; economy and finance; and energy and climate change. The Chairman of the EEC Board took part in the plenary session discussing initiatives to facilitate global economic development. At the AIF 2025 Bakytzhan Sagintaev held a number of working meetings with the participants of the High Level Forum. AIF 2025 brought together more than 5,000 people from all over the world. It featured 25 discussion platforms, with about 600 foreign guests as speakers.

Bakytzhan Sagintaev held series of meetings on Astana International Forum's sidelines
On May 29 in Astana, Bakytzhan Sagintaev, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, held a series of working meetings on the sidelines of the Astana International Forum. The negotiations with Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, noted the importance of building systematic cooperation between the EEC and the OTS, and placed emphasis on the exchange of experience between the two integration associations. The meeting with Baghdad Amreev, President of the Turkic Investment Fund, discussed the issues of providing assistance to entrepreneurship across the EAEU. The conversation with Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, touched upon the prospects of cooperation in the energy sector. Practical implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Commission and the UAE Government were considered during the meeting between Bakytzhan Sagintaev and Mohammed Saeed Mohammed Al Ariqi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Kazakhstan. There was an exchange of views with Nikolay Podguzov, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Development Bank, on the prospects of investment activities to strengthen the EAEU economies. The negotiations with the Deputy Prime Ministers of the Eurasian Five states — Members of the EAEU Council, discussed priority areas of cooperation within the Union in accordance with the Eurasian Economic Path Declaration and further economic dialogue with third countries.

Arzybek Kozhoshev addressed participants of CIS CTM International Conference on Sectoral Professional Competence
Arzybek Kozhoshev, the EEC Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure, delivered a video message to the participants of the International Conference on Professional Competence Requirements for Sustainable Transport Development. In his speech, the EEC Minister emphasized that professionalism plays an important role for the development of the industry, with a high level of competence being key to smooth operation of transport and transport infrastructure facilities. "Technological progress puts forward new requirements for the entire transport system, as transport operations are rapidly technologized, smart digital and intelligent solutions are introduced. Nevertheless, in all these endeavors, the role of specialists who ensure the sustainability and resilience of the transport system remains significant," noted Arzybek Kozhoshev. The Minister also shared that the EAEU countries are working to expand possibilities through mutual recognition of academic degrees in the Eurasian space. "Enhancing professional competence through international partnerships ultimately contributes to the growth of our economies and the region as a whole," the Minister emphasized.

EAEU and Indonesia held discussions to finalize negotiations on free trade agreement
From May 28 to 29, Andrey Slepnev, Minister in charge of Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission, paid a working visit to the Republic of Indonesia to discuss issues requiring special attention for the successful completion of negotiations on a free trade agreement. "The conclusion of an agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and Indonesia will give goods from the Eurasian Economic Union countries duty-free access to the largest market in Southeast Asia with a population of more than 280 million people," mentioned Andrey Slepnev following his Jakarta meeting with Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. The EEC Minister emphasized that the preferential trade regime will significantly improve the competitiveness of EAEU products in the Indonesian market, which, in turn, will enable increased and diversified exports to this country. The visit resulted in the parties agreeing on further close contacts and outlining a plan to finalize the negotiations as soon as possible.

EEC prepared first quality assessment report on EAEU statistics
A meeting of the Advisory Committee on Statistics of the Eurasian Economic Commission considered the annual results of implementing the Program for Developing Integration in the Field of Statistics of the Eurasian Economic Union for 2021-2025 and the Strategic Directions for Developing the Eurasian Economic Integration until 2025. The meeting participants discussed the report on the quality assessment system of the EAEU official statistical information for 2024. The he Advisory Committee members emphasized the relevance of this work and concluded that it should be carried out annually. It was also noted that the introduction of digital technologies in statistics will significantly reduce the time needed to produce papers. The report was prepared in accordance with the requirements of the guidelines for assessing the quality of statistical information of the Union, developed by the EEC Statistics Department jointly with the authorized authorities of the Union states. The next meeting of the Advisory Committee on Statistics is scheduled for October 2025. EEC presented to ESCAP EAEU activities on digitalizing logistics and trade
Konstantin Begidzhanov, Deputy Director of the Eurasian Economic Commission's Trade Policy Department, delivered a video message about the Eurasian Economic Union in the context of digitalizing logistics and trade at the meeting of the Committee on Trade, Investment, Enterprise and Business Innovation of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). During his presentation, Konstantin Begidzhanov told about the key areas of digitalizing the EAEU transport and trade. He paid special attention to the introduction of advanced technologies in the field of electronic documentation and the use of navigation seals, which significantly increases the efficiency of international transportation. For instance, by 2025, rail freight carriers of the Union countries have ensured the transition to digital legally significant transportation documents between Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia. The share of transportation using electronic documents between Belarus and Russia is 90%. Konstantin Begidzhanov noted that digitalization of logistics not only helps speed up and simplify trade operations, but also increases the transparency and reliability of transport processes.

EEC Board Chairman Bakytzhan Sagintaev's greetings on EAEU Day
Bakytzhan Sagintaev, Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission's Board, conveyed his greetings on the Eurasian Economic Union Day. This holiday, established in 2022 by the decision of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, is dedicated to the signing of the EAEU Agreement on May 29, 2014. Guided by this document, the Member States and the Commission have done a lot of work over the years on establishing and developing the integration association. "Since the start of the Eurasian Economic Union functioning, its total GDP has grown by 18% reaching 2.5 trillion dollars. Its economic growth figures have significantly surpassed the world average," Bakytzhan Sagintaev emphasized. Mutual trade within the Union has doubled and reached nearly $100 billion in 2024. At the same time, the share of national currencies in mutual settlements exceeded 92%. The volume of trade with third countries increased 1.4 times. Industrial output increased by 29% and agricultural output by 26%. The Head of the EEC Board emphasized that even now the Eurasian Economic Union can be called a global important pole of economic attraction. To this end, the EAEU continues to interact with dozens of countries and key regional integration associations. "A new configuration of trade, transport and logistics routes, effective distribution of financial and labor resources is the basis for economic growth of each of the EAEU countries and our integration association as a whole," Bakytzhan Sagintaev noted. The Chairman of the Commission's Board sent letters of greetings to the Heads of State and Government of the EAEU countries.
