Bakytzhan Sagintaev, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, and Sadyr Japarov, President of the Kyrgyz Republic, discussed current issues of the Eurasian Economic Union development during the negotiations held on March 12 in Bishkek.
In particular, the parties paid special attention to the EAEU international agenda and key areas of the medium- and long-term integration cooperation.
Bakytzhan Sagintaev informed about the key tasks of the Commission to ensure food security of the EAEU Member States, strengthen industrial cooperation, eliminate the mutual trade barriers to the greatest possible extent, and provide large-scale digitalization of economic processes.
The parties also discussed the interaction of the EAEU Member States in the transport area.
In particular, they noted the primary importance of plans to develop transport infrastructure in the East-West and North-South directions. This will create an additional impetus for coupling the logistics potential of the Eurasian Economic Union with China’s Belt and Road Initiative. This process will also increase cargo transportation due to implementing the ecosystem of digital transport corridors.
Moreover, Bakytzhan Sagintaev and Sadyr Japarov reviewed the directions for the Commission and the Member States’ future joint work as outlined in the Declaration on Further Development of Economic Processes within the EAEU until 2030 and for the period until 2045 “Eurasian Economic Path”.
