Outcome of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council on February 2
The introduction of labelling systems within the Eurasian Economic Union and formation of mechanisms to implement coordinated digital policy of the Union became the main topics of the first meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in 2018, which took place in Almaty (Republic of Kazakhstan) on February 2. The Heads of Governments of the EAEU Member States were introduced to the macroeconomic situation in the countries of the Union and the status of mutual trade, as well as forecasts for the development of the agroindustrial complex in the Member States.

Prime Ministers of the EAEU Countries Discussed Formats and Mechanisms for Interaction in Digital Sphere
Within the framework of the "Digital Agenda in the Age of Globalization" forum held on February, 2 in Almaty (Republic of Kazakhstan), the Heads of Governments of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) discussed the EAEU Digital Agenda, creation of a joint program for digital transformation and electronic confidence space, and interaction on the issues related to the use of cryptocurrency. The event was organized on the initiative of Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Its sessions were attended by Members of the Board – Ministers of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), official delegations from Azerbaijan and Tajikistan, as well as representatives of a number of large international IT companies.

Mechanisms for Implementation of Initiatives of the Russian Chairmanship in the EAEU Discussed in Minsk
“The initiatives of the Russian Chairmanship for 2018 continue the logic of the EAEU’s development and highlight a new group of issues of a broad integration agenda,” Sergey Sukhno, Director of the Integration Development Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), noted when speaking on January 25 in Minsk at a round table timed to the transition of the Chairmanship in the Eurasian Economic Union to the Russian Federation.

Outcome of the EEC Council on January 26
The meeting of the EEC Council was held on January 26 at the headquarters of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC). A wide range of issues related to integration interaction have been discussed. A number of decisions have been made in the field of veterinary and phytosanitary control, trade and industrial policies, and draft documents proposed for consideration at the Intergovernmental and the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meetings have been adopted.

Joint digital projects in such areas as industrial cooperation, transport corridors, digital traceability of products, cargo, goods, including in the sphere of increasing the connectivity of digital infrastructures and developing a space of trust will become the basis for interaction of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in the field of high technologies.

EEC Extends its Opportunities in the sphere of Customs Administration and Develops Integrated Information System
On January 23, the EEC Board has made a number of decisions in the field of customs administration, technical regulation, trade policy and development of the integrated information system of the EAEU. In particular, the anti-dumping duty on polymer coated rolled metal products manufactured in China has been prolonged. A register of authorized economic operators will be created, as well as data exchange necessary for granting and payment of pensions to workers or members of their families will be arranged. The requirements for smoking tobacco products are excluded from the Single Sanitary Requirements, and the list of aromatic and flavoring substances, the use of which is not allowed in the production of non-smoking tobacco products is extended.

Work Plan Adopted for Creation of the EAEU Satellite Orbital Constellation
The creation of a joint satellite orbital constellation of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) States was included in the list of activities of the interstate program for the development of the Earth remote sensing system (ERS). This constellation will embrace already operating spacecrafts created as part of national space programs, as well as promising designs developed and launched in the Union countries.

“ЕАEU – Cambodia” business forum will give a new impetus to cooperation between the ЕАEU and Cambodia
The first EAEU – Cambodia 2017 business forum may be viewed as a starting point for a new stage in the cooperation between the EAEU countries and Cambodia, Tatyana Valovaya, Member of the Board – Minister in charge of Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), said. Organized on the initiative of the EEC and the Government of Cambodia, with support from the Trading House of the Russia–Singapore Business Council, the event brought together business representatives from the six countries for the first time. At the forum, discussions were focused on systemic issues of cooperation and opportunities for mutual investment growth.
