EEC and officials of UNCTAD and UNECE discussed in Geneva cooperation programs for 2024-2026

Vladimir Serpikov, Director of the Trade Policy Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission, held meetings with the officials of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) as part of his working visit to Geneva.

The main topic of the events was the discussion of draft programs of cooperation between international organizations and the Commission for the next three-year period. Elaborating the relevant documents is envisaged by the Action Plan for implementing the Strategic Directions for Developing the Eurasian Economic Integration until 2025.

"During the exchange of views, some arrangements were reached on the draft Cooperation Program with UNCTAD and steps were outlined with UNECE to finalize the Cooperation Plan as soon as possible. The UNECE representatives expressed their readiness to assist in solving important systemic problems of interest to our countries, including the problem of intermodal transport, with due regard to the organization's experience in standardizing this field", Vladimir Serpikov noted.

A meeting was also held with the Head of the Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the International Trade Centre (ITC), during which they discussed legal aspects of interaction, as well as a number of areas relevant to the parties within the Memorandum between the Commission and ITC.

Furthermore, consultations were held with the officials of a number of permanent missions of the Eurasian Economic Union Member States in Geneva to discuss coordination of approaches shortly before the Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization scheduled for February 26-29, 2024, transparency issues and preparation of draft notifications on the EAEU measures to be submitted to the WTO.
