EEC held seminar in Belarus on internal market protection and customs tariff regulation

On November 9-10, Minsk hosted a seminar for public authorities and the business community of the Republic of Belarus "Applying Internal Market Protection and Customs Tariff Regulation Measures in the Eurasian Economic Union", organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus jointly with the Eurasian Economic Commission.

The seminar was opened by Igor Nazaruk, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus. On the EEC side, the seminar was attended by Vahagn Ghazaryan, Director of the EEC Tariff and Non-Tariff Customs Regulation Department, Andrey Zakharov, Director of the EEC Internal Market Protection Department, as well as experts directly involved in reviewing initiative proposals in the field of customs tariff regulation, applications for trade protection measures, and conducting protective investigations.

The Commission's representatives highlighted practical issues relating to special aspects of preparing initiative proposals in the field of customs tariff regulation and recommendations on preparing applications to apply internal market protection measures. The seminar attendees were interested in the issues of applying the tariff exemption mechanism, increasing the rates of the CCT EAEU duties, the evidence base for preparing applications, procedural aspects of conducting protective investigations and adopting decisions on applying internal market protection measures.

The event was attended by more than one hundred employees from 74 enterprises, organizations, ministries and departments of the Republic of Belarus.
