EEC considered issues of EAEU agreed agricultural policy

A meeting of the Advisory Committee on Agriculture chaired by Goar Barseghyan, the EEC Minister in charge of Industry and Agriculture, was held on March 17 at the Eurasian Economic Commission's headquarters in Moscow.

The meeting attendees approved a draft Agreement on the procedure for recognizing organic products within the Eurasian Economic Union. The document is aimed at providing conditions for free movement of such products within the Union. The draft document finalized following the Member States' internal legal procedures will be submitted to the Eurasian Economic Union's governing bodies for consideration.

The Advisory Committee meeting also approved the draft Recommendation of the EEC Board “On measures of state support for the agricultural processing development in the Union Member States”. The document contains proposals for incentive and regulatory measures aimed at developing the agricultural processing in line with the national state agricultural policy.

As part of the ongoing work on sensitive agricultural goods, the meeting approved draft recommendations of the EEC Board on measures for sustainable development in the EAEU countries of the milk and dairy products market, cattle meat production, and pork market.

“Implementing these recommendations will make it possible to improve the efficiency of livestock industries, including to reduce import dependence on genetic material, raw materials, and means of production, will contribute to building up the export potential of manufactured products and ensure their competitiveness,” Goar Barseghyan noted.
