Arman Shakkaliev appointed EEC Minister in charge of Competition and Antitrust Regulation
By Decision of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council dated November 6, Arman Shakkaliev was appointed new Member of the Board — Minister of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) on behalf of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He will be in charge of antitrust regulation and competition in transboundary markets of the Eurasian Economic Union.

EEC Board approved roadmap for forming Eurasian Economic Union's common exchange space
The EAEU common exchange space will be formed as an interlinked system of exchange trading in securities and financial instruments in the organized markets of the Union countries combined on the basis of agreed procedures and technologies and will contribute to developing the EAEU common financial market.

EEC seminar discussed approaches to implementing WTO Agreement on Trade Facilitation in EAEU countries
On November 6, the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) held a regional seminar on trade facilitation. The seminar was attended by representatives of the EEC, OSCE, ITC, WTO and WCO as well as the Member States of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

EEC to support leather and footwear industry of Union countries
The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has decided to zero the rates of import customs duties on a number of chemical products used as finishing materials in the leather and footwear industry. The relevant initiative was put forward by the Russian Federation. Duties of 0% will be established for a period of three years.

EEC launches tender for examining Union’s integrated information system
The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has started receiving tender bids to determine a contractor for conducting a comprehensive technical examination of the integrated information system (IIS) of the Eurasian Economic Union. Earlier, the EEC Council adopted a disposition to conduct such an examination.

EAEU Technical Regulations on Alcohol to come into force on January 1, 2022
As advised by the Russian party the Eurasian Economic Commission’s Council has postponed enactment of the Eurasian Economic Union’s Technical Regulations "On Safety of Alcoholic Beverages" (TR EAEU 047/2018)" to January 1, 2022. This is required to draft amendments to the Technical Regulations.

EEC Council reduced duties on certain types of organic chemical compounds
The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has decided to single out certain types of organic chemical compounds in the Single Commodity Nomenclature of Foreign Economic Activity of the Eurasian Economic Union and reduce import customs duty rates in relation thereto. In particular, duties on a series of aniline derivatives as well as N-phenyl-p-phenylenediamine will be reduced from 5% to 0% at the initiative of the Russian Federation.
