December 7-8, the Eurasian Economic Commission hosted an international seminar
on topical issues in the field of plant quarantine.
The seminar will be attended by Member of the Board -
Minister in charge of Technical Regulation of the EEC Valery Koreshkov,
representatives of the World Trade Organization, the Food and Agriculture Organization
of the United Nations, the Secretariat of the International Plant Protection
Convention, the European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization,
representatives of authorized plant quarantine and protection bodies of the
member states of the Eurasian Economic Union and member states of the European
Union, as well as representatives of the Information Technologies Department of
the EEC.
The seminar participants will be informed about the
work undertaken by national plant protection and quarantine organisations to
develop and apply electronic phytosanitary certificates worldwide, with
experience of their application in individual countries, will have the chance
to discuss control when moving regulated products throughout the territory of the
European Union and Eurasian Economic Union, including the traceability of
regulated products.
In addition, it is planned that the seminar will
include a speech by representatives of the WTO on the application of the WTO
agreement on sanitary and phytosanitary measures and the WTO’s activities in
accordance with the Trade Facilitation Agreement.
