Eurasian Intergovernmental Council Reviewed Report on Distribution of Import Customs Duties in 2023

The Eurasian Intergovernmental Council reviewed the report on crediting to and distributing between the budgets of the Eurasian Economic Union countries of import customs duties in 2023. According to the document, import duty revenues to the budgets of Member States increased by 46.8% compared to 2022, reaching a record of $14.8 billion. The amount of duties collected and distributed in 2023 is the highest since 2015.

"The growth of import customs duties in 2023 testifies to the stable functioning of the EAEU and its positive impact on the Member economies. It also shows that we are moving in the right direction, strengthening trade ties and creating favorable conditions for business," noted Bakhyt Sultanov, EEC Minister in charge of Economy and Financial Policy.

According to the Treaty on the EAEU, the Commission annually submits to the Intergovernmental Council a report on the crediting to and distributing between the budgets of the Member States of import customs duties.

"We will continue to optimize customs legislation and create favorable conditions for business to promote further growth of trade within the EAEU," summarized the EEC Minister. "The growth of customs revenues will allow countries to increase budget income and finance socio-economic programs."
