Goar Barseghyan: "Implementing the priorities of the Russian chairmanship contributes to the EAEU formation as a self-sufficient pole of the multipolar world"

This was stated by Goar Barseghyan, Director of the Integration Development Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission, at the round table "Outcomes of Russia's Chairmanship in the Eurasian Economic Union". The event took place on December 22 in Moscow at the initiative of the Russian International Affairs Council.

Goar Barseghyan has stressed that the priorities outlined by Vladimir Putin, Chairman of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council and President of Russia, at the beginning of the current year are comprehensive and concern various spheres of cooperation, aimed, inter alia, at implementing the Strategy-2025 and elaborating new strategic planning documents. The priorities of the Russian chairmanship also include improving the Union's institutional structure, achieving technological sovereignty and developing industrial cooperation, ensuring food security, enhancing investment cooperation, implementing information technologies, increasing the role of national payment instruments, deepening interaction with international partners, and supporting social and youth initiatives.

The Director of the Integration Development Department noted that the Commission worked throughout the year, jointly with the parties, to implement the priorities of the Russian chairmanship.

Besides, Goar Barseghyan dwelt on some key results of this work: "We are passionate about the fundamental initiative put forward by the President of Russia - preparing a new document that will set the main vectors of the Eurasian integration interaction in the medium and long term. Despite the extremely tight deadlines, we managed to carry out the objective in full, and a draft Declaration on further development of economic processes within the Eurasian Economic Union until 2030 and for the period until 2045 "The Eurasian Economic Path" was elaborated.

The EEC representative informed about the scheduled signing of the document by the Heads of the EAEU countries on December 25 during the Supreme Council's meeting in St. Petersburg, as well as shared further plans in this direction.

"A roadmap for implementing the Declaration lies ahead. We are confident that the efficient groundwork that we have created through our joint efforts within the chairmanship of the Russian Federation in the EAEU governing bodies will be the starting point for further successes on the way to the global goals of the Eurasian economic integration," Goar Barseghyan concluded.
