01 Jan 1970 Bakytzhan Sagintayev Participated in Meeting of CIS Heads of State Council Bakytzhan Sagintayev, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, took part in a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States in Moscow on October 8. In particular, the meeting discussed key issues of strengthening integration cooperation in the Eurasian space. Interaction with the CIS is a traditional priority of the Eurasian Economic Commission's international agenda. Two joint action plans have already been implemented with the Commonwealth Executive Committee, and a third joint plan is currently being implemented. Since 2021, there has been continuous work to integrate the law of the Eurasian Economic Union and the Commonwealth regulatory framework in terms of eliminating collisions between the draft regulations developed within the EAEU and the CIS. Sectoral dialogue with CIS entities is being developed in such areas as antitrust policy, standardization and uniformity of measurements, electric power industry, consumer protection, and statistics. The Eurasian space has unique trade, economic, transportation and logistics advantages. Combining the potentials of the EAEU and CIS players can multiply the effect of this cooperation. The dialogue between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the CIS Executive Committee began in 2012 with the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation. In November 2018, the parties signed a Memorandum on Deepening Interaction.  

01 Jan 1970 Transition period for EAEU technical regulation on products for civil defense and protection from natural and industrial emergencies extended The Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission extended until June 1, 2026 the transitional provisions of the Eurasian Economic Union's technical regulation "On Safety of Products Intended for Civil Defense and Protection from Natural and Industrial Emergencies" (TR EAEU 050/2021). The deadline for transitional provisions to the said technical regulation, which was to expire on December 31, 2024, was extended at the proposal of the Russian Federation due to the need to complete the system of technical regulation in respect of products for which no mandatory requirements were previously established. This includes the development of a necessary number of standards to ensure the implementation of the technical regulation TR EAEU 050/2021 and testing, as well as the accreditation of conformity assessment bodies and their inclusion in the unified register. "Establishment of transitional provisions is a security procedure for the purpose of phased transition to the technical regulation requirements and issuing documents on conformity assessment," noted Valentin Tataritsky, the EEC Minister in charge of Technical Regulation. The decision of the Commission's Board shall come into effect after 10 calendar days have elapsed from the date of its official publication and shall apply to legal relations arising from January 1, 2025 in order to eliminate the gap in applying transitional provisions.
