Some Types of Socially Significant Fruits and Vegetables to be Exempt from Import Customs Duties Off-Season

The Eurasian Economic Commission's Council has decided to grant exemption from import customs duty to certain fruits and vegetables intended for retail sale or subsequent processing.

In particular, this concerns the supply of potatoes in the amount of no more than 150 ths tons to the Russian Federation, the supply of carrots in the amount of no more than 55 ths tons to the Russian Federation and in the amount of no more than 5 ths tons to the Republic of Belarus, as well as the supply of apples in the amount of no more than 230 ths tons to the Russian Federation and in the amount of no more than 20 ths tons to the Republic of Belarus. The exemption will be valid from January 1 to July 31, 2025.

"Annually during the off-season, significant fluctuations in consumer prices are observed in the fruit and vegetable market, primarily due to the depletion of domestic produce stocks. Taking into account the smaller harvest this year, the adopted measure will ensure additional supply in the domestic market and increase the availability of vegetables and apples for the population,” emphasized Andrey Slepnev, EEC Minister in charge of Trade

He clarified that the specified tariff exemption would be provided upon confirmation issued by the authorized body.
