01 Jan 1970 Interaction between EEC and diplomatic missions: most important tool for EAEU international positioning This was stated by Valentina Yanutenok, Deputy Director of the Eurasian Economic Commission’s Integration Development Department, during a lecture to ambassadors, permanent representatives, consul ambassadors, deputy permanent representatives and consuls general of Russia as part of the Higher Diplomatic Courses. The event, organized by the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, took place on April 20 in Moscow. As part of the lecture, Valentina Yanutenok touched upon various aspects of the Eurasian Economic Union's functioning amidst economic shocks and external challenges. The EEC representative highlighted in detail the implementation of the Strategic Directions for Developing the Eurasian Economic Integration until 2025, including new guidelines on the international agenda, as well as emphasized the special role of diplomatic missions in positioning the Eurasian theme. “Today, the Union demonstrates stability and steady growth in key macroeconomic indicators amid geopolitical and sanctions confrontations. After all, this is the result of practical implementation of the Strategy-2025,” Valentina Yanutenok noted.   Regional integration contributes to establishing a multipolar world and achieving geopolitical balance. The EAEU has emerged as an organic element of the global economic architecture. A flexible infrastructure has been created that encompasses key partners and makes it possible to hold a comprehensive dialogue with states and regional integration associations in the interests of improving the Union countries' economic stability. “Owing to the active position of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, we managed to successfully implement a number of areas on the Union's international agenda. There is a good practice of interaction between the EEC and foreign missions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation on the issues of the EAEU international activities. The Commission feels the support from Russia in terms of implementing the international agenda,” Valentina Yanutenok emphasized. At present, the Union Member States feel the strongest pressure in the information space. In such circumstances, it is essential to present unequivocal and unambiguous information about current activities, using the state-of-the-art communication channels. “It seems important to continue the course of promoting the ideas and practices of the Eurasian integration on various international platforms. In this context, interaction with the ministries of foreign affairs and diplomatic missions of the Union countries is of particular importance,” Valentina Yanutenok concluded.  

01 Jan 1970 Rules for classification of medical products depending on potential risk of use updated The Eurasian Economic Commission's Board adopted amendments to the Rules for the classification of medical products depending on the potential risk of use, approved by Decision No. 173 of the EEC Board dated December 22, 2015 . The classification of medical products is aimed at ensuring the application of a risk-based approach in regulating their circulation. The amended version of the Rules takes into account the law enforcement practice and changes in the documents of the International Medical Device Regulators' Forum (IMDRF) in relation to software that is a medical product and in vitro diagnostic medical devices. Therefore, the classification of medical devices will take into account the approaches currently adopted in the international practice, which will improve the availability of medical products in the Eurasian Economic Union countries, as well as the export potential of their manufacturers. Besides, Decisions No. 116 and No. 123 of the EEC Board dated July 24, 2018 on differentiating the elements of medical products and the criteria for including several modifications of a medical product in a single registration certificate were declared invalid.

01 Jan 1970 Consumer price index in EAEU amounted to 100.3% in May compared to April 2023 In May 2023, the consumer price index for goods and services in the Eurasian Economic Union amounted to 100.3% compared to April 2023 and 102.7% compared to December 2022. Compared to December, there was a significant increase in prices for paid services (by 4.6%). During this period, prices for food products increased by 2.6%, and prices for non-food products grew by 1.3%. The increase in prices for food products higher than in the EAEU was registered in Kazakhstan (by 5.6%), Kyrgyzstan (by 3.8%), and Belarus (by 2.9%). The largest increase in prices for non-food products was recorded in Kyrgyzstan (by 4.9%) and Kazakhstan (by 4.4%), for paid services - in Kyrgyzstan (by 5.2%) and Russia (by 4.7%). 01 Jan 1970 Republican budget executed with surplus in Armenia and Kyrgyzstan in H1 2023 In H1 of 2023, compared to the same period last year, the budget surplus increased by 1.9 times in Armenia and by 2.8 times in Kyrgyzstan. The budget deficit increased in Kazakhstan, while in Russia the budget surplus was replaced by a deficit. As of 1 July 2023, the public-sector debt denominated in national currency increased by 5.7% in Armenia, by 24.4% in Kazakhstan, by 20.5% in Kyrgyzstan, and by 27.5% in Russia. In the structure of public-sector debt, external debt prevailed in Armenia and Kyrgyzstan, while internal debt prevailed in Kazakhstan and Russia. 01 Jan 1970 EEC declared its readiness to promote enhanced industrial cooperation in space On November 15, representatives of the EEC Industrial Unit spoke about the joint work of the Eurasian Economic Commission and the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union in the space industry at the Space Integration International Business Forum held in Moscow. Since 2016, the Union has operated the Eurasian Technology Platform in the field of space technologies. It allowed to establish interaction between scientific, industrial and government organizations and enabled the EAEU to develop the Cooperation Concept in the field of Earth remote sensing, developing geoinformation services and producing modern breakthrough technologies. “Currently, within the framework of the interstate program to provide space and geoinformation services based on Earth remote sensing data, approved by Decision No. 4 of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council dated July 17, 2020, provisions are made for the implementation of a cooperative project of the Eurasian Economic Union countries,” said Maxim Ivanov, a representative of the EEC Industrial Unit. He also noted that with the decision of the Intergovernmental Council dated October 26 this year approving a new mechanism for providing financial support to Member States in the implementation of joint cooperative projects in industries it was possible to initiate and launch new projects, including in the space sector. Representatives of the Commission's Industrial Policy Department expressed their readiness to promote enhanced integration interaction and industrial cooperation in the space sector of the Union.

01 Jan 1970 Arzybek Kozhoshev: "Energy and transport have a discrete role in promoting the integration agenda aimed at improving economic stability of the EAEU countries" This opinion was expressed by Arzybek Kozhoshev, Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission, during his speech on November 15 at the plenary session of the Eurasian Business Forum "Integration-2023", dedicated to the theme "Greater Eurasian Partnership. Advanced Development Strategy". Addressing the audience, Arzybek Kozhoshev informed on the EAEU integration agenda in energy and transport.   "The role and value of establishing common markets for the Union's energy resources, scheduled to be launched from January 1, 2025, grows significantly. Creating the common electric power market will open up the possibility for its participants to carry out cross-border trade in the Eurasian space, and the cost of electric power will be formed using exchange mechanisms, which will ensure its transparency," the Eurasian Minister noted. It is obvious that the global processes of modern economic and social development are directly or indirectly related to energy resources, reliable access to which is the core priority of countries, being key to the prosperity of their economies and populations.   Arzybek Kozhoshev also noted that the EAEU states had adopted state programs for the “green economy” transition and the development of alternative energy: “Of course, energy prospects must take into account modern trends in the transition to low-carbon development, decarbonization, the primacy of the climate agenda, and ultimately, the diversification of energy sources and the development of new technologies.” Transport systems of the EAEU countries demonstrate a high level of sustainability and stability in the context of creating new logistics chains and the need for accelerated infrastructure development. National infrastructure projects of the Union countries are focused on maintaining the functionality of combined transit transport corridors along the East-West route, as well as toward the Middle East and India within the North-South corridor using the potential of sea ports. Arzybek Kozhoshev stressed the importance of digitalizing the energy and transport sectors of the EAEU countries' economy: "The efficiency of basic processes in the energy sector is steadily increasing due to digitalization, and information technologies will be widely used in the functioning of the Union's common energy markets". Rail transport takes the lead in digitalizing transport activities. For example, the industry forms the basis for an integrated technology for digital paperless rail transportation in import and export directions.     In concluding his speech, the EEC Minister drew attention to the fact that any changes should be perceived as new opportunities for the EAEU countries' economic development and creating mechanisms for joint response to the challenges of modernity. In order to form a common space of development and prosperity, it is important that the EAEU development strategies should not be oriented towards competition, but towards rational interaction, ensuring the efficient use of common and national competitive advantages, energy and transport connectivity, as well as available infrastructure.

01 Jan 1970 Information exchange between authorized bodies in circulating veterinary medicines to be carried out according to temporary algorithm On March 13, the Eurasian Economic Commission's Board adopted a recommendation "On the algorithm of information exchange between the authorized bodies (expert institutions) of the Eurasian Economic Union Member States, as well as between the authorized bodies (expert institutions) of the Member States and the Eurasian Economic Commission in circulation of veterinary medicines".  The proposed algorithm envisages the procedure for the exchange of information between the Union countries' authorized bodies, both between themselves and with the Commission, file formats, as well as transmission deadlines. This will make it possible to systematize the work of the Member States' authorized bodies and the Commission in implementing the Rules regulating the circulation of veterinary medicines in the Union's customs territory from March 13, 2024, until enactment of the relevant common processes developed by the Commission within the Union, as well as the full readiness of national information resources.

01 Jan 1970 Eldar Alisherov, "Dialogue between the EAEU Business Council and the EEC is the key to building integration successfully and in the interests of the business community" This was stated by Eldar Alisherov, Minister in charge of Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission, at a meeting of the Presidium of the Business Council of the Eurasian Economic Union. The event was held on September 30 on the sidelines of the Eurasian Economic Forum in Yerevan. Eldar Alisherov emphasized that the Eurasian Economic Path Declaration on Further Development of Economic Processes within the EAEU until 2030 and for the period until 2045 opens new opportunities for business. "The Eurasian Economic Path declaration is a document, first of all necessary for economic entities to confidently conduct business with their EAEU partners, improve the business and investment climate and establish a favorable competitive environment," said the EEC Minister. Eldar Alisherov noted the special role of the EAEU Business Council in the processes of Eurasian integration building and expressed hope for further productive interaction. During the meeting, special attention was paid to the interaction of the EEC and the EAEU Business Council with international partners. Eldar Alisherov reminded that the Commission cooperates with key economies of the region, international regional organizations and associations, including the CIS, SCO, ASEAN, etc., as well as with specialized international institutions. "The extensive international agenda of the EAEU allows the Commission, in cooperation with the EAEU Business Council, to provide platforms for intensifying dialogue between representatives of business entities and businesses of the EAEU Member States and third countries, as well as to use the platforms of visiting business missions organized by business circles of the Union countries to hold sessions dedicated to the Eurasian integration issues," the EEC Minister stressed. In conclusion, he called on business representatives and business circles of the EAEU states to be more actively involved in the work on arranging business missions to third countries. "We are as transparent as possible, open to dialogue and always share our actions and plans in terms of international cooperation development," Eldar Alisherov summarized.
