The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission at a meeting held on May 14 amended the technical regulation of the Eurasian Economic Union "On Safety of Toys".
The need for amendments has been established through the practice of its application. The Technical Regulation has been supplemented with new terms (e.g. "scented toy", "stuffed toy", "rattle", "set for the development of taste skills (taste set)" and others) and requirements to new types of toys (e.g. board games for the development of sense of smell, taste sets and others).
"The toy industry doesn't stand still. In the market, the range of toys is constantly expanding, new types of toys are appearing. The changes establish requirements to such products, which will improve the safety of toys in general. Also, the instantiation of certain provisions, the need for which was identified during the application of the current version of the technical regulation, will help entrepreneurs to increase the efficiency of production while complying with the safety requirements to toys," said Valentin Tataritsky, EEC Minister for Technical Regulation.
The above amendments and changes to the technical regulation will come into effect in six months after the date of official publication of the Council's decision on amendments.
