EAEU countries agreed to meet each other’s sugar supply demands

Members of the Eurasian Economic Commission's Council have instructed the EAEU countries' authorized authorities to work on contracting sugar supplies within the mutual trade to meet existing domestic demands.

In this case, the sides will have to proceed from the priority of selling sugar to the internal market of the Member States, as well as the fact that the restrictions on such supplies in force in the Russian Federation until August 31, 2022 will not be extended.

"As a result of consultations at the EEC's venue, guarantees were made in regard to the possibility of concluding contracts and supplying the necessary volumes of sugar after September 1. In particular, the Ministries of Agriculture of Russia and Kazakhstan have agreed on increased planned volumes in the amount of 168 thousand tons by the end of the year. I am sure that this news will end all speculation in the market," mentioned Andrey Slepnev, the EEC Minister in charge of Trade.
