EAEU countries coordinated stances for further work following WTO's 12th Ministerial Conference

The third meeting of the Working Group on interaction between the Eurasian Economic Union's Member States and the EEC on issues of the World Trade Organization was held at the venue of the Eurasian Economic Commission. The parties discussed outcomes of the WTO's 12th Ministerial Conference, held in June this year in Geneva, and considered coordination of activities in the areas affecting the EAEU supranational competence.

"Despite the numerous challenges and hurdles faced by the WTO, the Ministerial Conference demonstrated the organization's commitment to embark on a reform process, which undoubtedly meets the interests of the global economy", stressed Andrey Slepnev, EEC Minister in charge of Trade. "Representatives of all the EAEU countries noted the successful chairmanship of Kazakhstan, as well as a positive role it played by co-hosting the Conference".

Following the Working Group’s meeting, approaches to work within the Joint Initiative on e-commerce, the WTO's restructuring, as well as the EAEU countries’ participation in specialized sessions on transit issues of the Trade Facilitation Committee were coordinated.
