EAEU forms information system about unsafe products

The EEC Council adopted a decision, following the outcomes of the pilot project on forming information system on unsafe products in the Eurasian Economic Union, to proceed with preparing the documents required for a full-fledged start of the general process for forming this information system in the EAEU as well as the action plan aimed at implementing the agreements adopted in organizing supervision of products traded in the Union's market.

These are two fundamental international treaties in this field – an Agreement on the principles and approaches of state control (supervision) over compliance with requirements of the Union technical regulations and an Agreement on the procedure for marketing products in the Union not subject to the requirements established by the Union technical regulations.

Furthermore, the parties’ authorized bodies were instructed to finalize their national information systems in a timely manner and ensure their readiness for implementing the general process.

The pilot project on forming the Eurasian Economic Union’s information system on unsafe products was carried out during the period from 2018 to 2021. Using the example of six technical regulations (for low-voltage equipment, wheeled vehicles, products for children and adolescents, toys, meat and dairy products), the control (supervision) authorities have generated more than 100 notifications on detecting products that fail to confirm to the Union’s mandatory requirements.

The results of the pilot project will be taken as a basis for creating the EAEU information system about unsafe (non-conforming) products within the general process "Formation, maintenance and use of the information system about unsafe products".

Implementing this process will enable the Union States’ authorized bodies to interact in its information environment in a coordinated manner to respond and take prompt measures, including with regard to detected unsafe products for consumers.
