The EAEU is improving the system of standardization and measurement uniformity assurance to support industry amid economic restrictions

The meeting of the EAEU Council of Heads of State Standardization Authorities considered practical steps to eliminate restrictions in the internal market of the Eurasian Economic Union, mechanisms to ensure compliance with mandatory requirements of the EAEU technical regulations, as well as transition to agreed policy in the sphere of standardization and the timely implementation of programs for developing interstate standards. The meeting took place on May 25 as part of events timed to coincide with the Eurasian Economic Forum in Bishkek. 

"The Eurasian Economic Commission, jointly with the EAEU countries, is actively developing and adopting measures aimed to support home industry amid economic restrictions," Viktor Nazarenko, EEC Minister in charge of Technical Regulation, noted. "Standardization and measurement uniformity assurance issues are the most important tool for implementing these measures."
The meeting participants specifically discussed certain aspects of special conditions established in the Russian Federation for product access to the Russian market.

Moreover, the meeting touched upon the issues related to improving the mechanisms of cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Interstate Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification of the Commonwealth of Independent States in the development of interstate standards.

A decision to create the Council of Heads of State (National) Standardization Authorities of the EAEU Member States was adopted on May 14, 2018, by the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council for the purpose of implementation by the EAEU Member States of agreed policy in the field of standardization within the Union.
