Tatyana Valovaya: "One of Key Growth Drivers in Mutual Trade Is Domestic Demand Due to Improvement of Macroeconomic Situation"
Mutual trade among the participating countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in 2017 was characterized by high dynamics indicators. The decline of mutual trade turnover within the EAEU over the last few years gave way to a significant growth in 2017. According to the result of nine months, the volume of mutual trade in the Union increased by 26.9%. Positive dynamics can be observed in virtually all key economic indicators of the EAEU. Such data are contained in the reports of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) on the status of mutual trade among the Member States in 2017 and on the macroeconomic situation in the participating countries, which were presented at the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Almaty (Republic of Kazakhstan) on February 2.

Import of Dairy Products into the EAEU Will Reduce by almost 300 thousand tons in 2018
In 2017, milk production in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) grew by 800 thousand tons and exceeded 46 million tons. "In general, 2017 was a productive year for milk producers in the EAEU", stated Sergey Sidorskiy, Member of the Board – Minister in charge of Industry and Agroindustrial Complex of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) during a meeting of the IX Congress of the National Union of Milk Producers (SoyuzMoloko). According to the EEC Minister, production growth is observed in all countries. The share of Russia and Belarus in the overall Union production is 80%.

Labelling System to Ensure Control over Circulation of Goods within the EAEU
A labelling system using modern means of identification will be created in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). Information on the means of identification used for labelling the goods will be entered into a single registry. The register will be created and maintained by the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC). The corresponding agreement was approved by the Heads of Governments of the EAEU countries at the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council on February 2. Outcome of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council on February 2
The introduction of labelling systems within the Eurasian Economic Union and formation of mechanisms to implement coordinated digital policy of the Union became the main topics of the first meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in 2018, which took place in Almaty (Republic of Kazakhstan) on February 2. The Heads of Governments of the EAEU Member States were introduced to the macroeconomic situation in the countries of the Union and the status of mutual trade, as well as forecasts for the development of the agroindustrial complex in the Member States.

Prime Ministers of the EAEU Countries Discussed Formats and Mechanisms for Interaction in Digital Sphere
Within the framework of the "Digital Agenda in the Age of Globalization" forum held on February, 2 in Almaty (Republic of Kazakhstan), the Heads of Governments of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) discussed the EAEU Digital Agenda, creation of a joint program for digital transformation and electronic confidence space, and interaction on the issues related to the use of cryptocurrency. The event was organized on the initiative of Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Its sessions were attended by Members of the Board – Ministers of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), official delegations from Azerbaijan and Tajikistan, as well as representatives of a number of large international IT companies.

Mechanisms for Implementation of Initiatives of the Russian Chairmanship in the EAEU Discussed in Minsk
“The initiatives of the Russian Chairmanship for 2018 continue the logic of the EAEU’s development and highlight a new group of issues of a broad integration agenda,” Sergey Sukhno, Director of the Integration Development Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), noted when speaking on January 25 in Minsk at a round table timed to the transition of the Chairmanship in the Eurasian Economic Union to the Russian Federation.

Outcome of the EEC Council on January 26
The meeting of the EEC Council was held on January 26 at the headquarters of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC). A wide range of issues related to integration interaction have been discussed. A number of decisions have been made in the field of veterinary and phytosanitary control, trade and industrial policies, and draft documents proposed for consideration at the Intergovernmental and the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meetings have been adopted.
