Varos Simonyan

Biography

He was born on March 5, 1981 in Yerevan (Republic of Armenia).

Varos Simonyan graduated from the State Engineering University of Armenia, specialty "Economics and Management", and from the University of Bradford (Great Britain).

He started his working career in 1998 in the commercial sector, where he was holding various positions.

From 2002 to 2008, he was a lecturer at the State Engineering University of Armenia.

From 2002 to 2005, he was Chief Specialist at the Section of Natural Resource Use Economy, Mining Industry Directorate of the Ministry of Trade and Economic Development of the Republic of Armenia.

From 2005 to 2007, he served as Head of the EU Cooperation Section, EU and WTO Cooperation Directorate of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia.

From 2007 to 2008, he was Head of the EU and WTO Cooperation Directorate of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia.

From 2008 to 2011, he was Head of the EU Cooperation and International Economic Cooperation Directorate of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia.

From 2011 to 2015, he was appointed Trade Representative of the Republic of Armenia to the European Union.

From 2015 to 2019, he was Commercial Attaché of the Republic of Armenia to the European Union.

From August 2019 to November 2021, he served as Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia; he also co-chaired a number of intergovernmental commissions.

Since November 23, 2021 he was appointed a Member of the Board – Minister in charge of Internal Markets, Informatization, Information & Communication Technologies ​of the Eurasian Economic Commission pursuant to the relevant Decision by the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.

He is married and has a daughter.
