Prospects for cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Government of Malaysia were discussed at negotiations between Eldar Alisherov, EEC Minister in charge of Integration and Macroeconomics, and Mastura Ahmad Mustafa, Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry of Malaysia on November 27 in Kuala Lumpur.
During the meeting, the EEC Minister informed the partners about current aspects of the Eurasian Economic Union development, as well as about cooperation with third countries and integration associations.
“The dialogue with our partners in Southeast Asia is one of the priorities of the EAEU’s international activities. This vector is enshrined in the key documents of the Union's strategic planning, Eldar Alisherov emphasized. "Every year, the region's role in trade and economic relations for all EAEU countries is growing."
As a first step in building a dialogue, the EEC Minister proposed organizing a joint seminar in Moscow featuring representatives of the EEC, EAEU countries and Malaysia. “As part of the event, we are ready to hold a presentation of the Union for representatives of Malaysian government agencies and jointly identify areas of further cooperation that are of mutual interest,” noted the head of the EEC integration unit.
Eldar Alisherov also noted the high potential for deepening the dialogue between the EEC and Malaysia on the EAEU–ASEAN platform, including within the framework of Malaysia's 2025 ASEAN chairmanship.
