The transition to digital technologies for shaping the EAEU single transport space was discussed by representatives of relevant agencies at a meeting of the Advisory Committee on Transport and Infrastructure. The meeting chaired by Arzybek Kozhoshev, EEC Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure, was held on November 1.
Representatives of the Republic of Kazakhstan presented the “Seamless Transit” project to facilitate cargo transportation in the Central Asian region, the Trans-Caspian route and Transcaucasian countries, launched in May this year along the route China-Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan (Southern Transport Corridor). It enables to manage container traffic by rail on routes from China to Central Asia and Europe through the Altynkol railway checkpoint on the Kazakhstan-China border in automatic mode. The project is implemented in consultation with the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan and JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy. In Q1 2025, the project is planned to be launched along the route China-Kazakhstan-Russia-Belarus (Northern Transport Corridor). The meeting attendees suggested the digital platform developers to assess the possibility of scaling the project to road transportation within the EAEU.
Besides, the meeting attendees heard the Commission's information on implementing the provisions of the Treaty on the EAEU in terms of rail transport by the EAEU countries. They considered the issues of harmonizing the EAEU countries' legislation in the field of civil aviation, infrastructure development, the Member States' participation in multilateral agreements on transportation along international transport corridors, and the possibility of third countries' participation in implementing priority integration infrastructure projects in the field of transport of the “five” countries.
The Advisory Committee members also discussed the importance of fulfilling the roadmap for implementing the Main Directions and Stages of the EAEU Coordinated (Agreed) Transport Policy for 2024-2026. The EEC Minister noted that on the instructions of the Heads of Government, the Member States and the Commission should agree on additional measures of the roadmap by February 1 next year.
At the meeting, the Committee approved draft amendments to the Regulation on the Council of Heads of Authorized Bodies of the EAEU Member States.
