EEC representatives told their Chinese counterparts about work to integrate Belt and Road Initiative
Vladimir Serpikov, Director of the Trade Policy Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission, spoke about the work to couple the development plans of the Eurasian Economic Union with the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative during an academic conference on September 6, dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the project. The event was organized by the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Russian Federation.
Vladimir Serpikov noted that, first of all, the integration was carried out as part of implementing the Agreement on Trade and Economic Cooperation between the EAEU and the PRC dated May 17, 2018, as well as the Roadmap for Expanding Trade and Economic Cooperation, aimed at strengthening practical interaction.
“Projects being implemented by the EAEU, such as the Eurasian Agroexpress and the digitalization of transport corridors, will help increase the volume of mutual trade, simplify trade procedures, increase intra-regional connectivity, and effectively integrate the Belt and Road Initiative,” expressed his confidence Vladimir Serpikov.
Conference participants, including representatives of government authorities, as well as Russian and Chinese businesses, discussed the results of the initiative. Today, about 150 countries take part in it. Over the past period, six transport corridors were created, united by many seaports, an effective financial platform was built and millions of new jobs were created.
