Unified Sanitary Requirements amended

On June 25, the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission introduced amendments to the Unified Sanitary Requirements to include some maximum limit for residues (MLR) of anthelmintic veterinary medicines in food products of animal origin.

The said MLRs had to be established, since they are approved for use in the of the Eurasian Economic Union States and are widely applied in raising productive animals. At the same time, the EAEU acts do not stipulate a maximum limit for their residues in food products of animal origin.

The decision of the EEC Board will ensure safe manufacture of food products of animal origin. This ensures an adequate level of protecting life and health of the population in the Union countries, including as part of the “One Health” concept of WHO, FAO, UNEP, and OIE.

The decision of the Board will come into effect after the established MLRs are included in the technical regulations of the Union “On Food Safety”.

WHO is the World Health Organization, FAO is the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, UNEP is the United Nations Environment Programme, OIE is the World Organization for Animal Health.
