This was stated by Nikolai Kushnarev, Director of the Industrial Policy Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission, during his working visit to the Volgograd Steel Works "Red October", where representatives of the Commission got acquainted with the company's plans for technological development.

Nikolai Kushnarev told the management of VSW "Red October" about the measures implemented in the Eurasian Economic Union for the joint development of the scrap metal industry as part of the action plan for raw

materials supply to the EAEU countries’ metal manufacturers for 2021-2024 approved by the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in November this year.

In particular, on December 28, a meeting of the expert group on the development of cooperation in the EAEU metallurgical industry will be held at the Commission’s venue. Its participants will discuss the approaches to the action plan implementation, including the issue of removing restrictions on access to raw materials for enterprises that consume scrap metal and to the formation of consolidated balances of demand and supply of scrap ferrous and non-ferrous metals in the Union.

"The issue of supplying metallurgical enterprises with raw materials (provision with scrap metal) is very sensitive for all our countries. Now, jointly with the countries, we have begun to implement the action plan with the active involvement of authorized authorities, associations of enterprises in the metallurgical and scrap metal industry, and have formed joint activity plans for the next year," Nikolai Kushnarev, Director of the EEC Industrial Policy Department, informed. "This work is especially important for metallurgical plants in the south of Russia, including the Volgograd Steel Works, and the Southern Ural regions, for which the issue of raw material supply is the most acute due to logistics peculiarities."
