EEC discussed issues of improving EAEU customs regulation
On April 30, the Eurasian Economic Commission held a meeting of the high-level Working Group on improving customs regulation chaired by Ruslan Davydov, the EEC Minister in charge of Customs Cooperation. It discussed amendments to the Customs Code of the Eurasian Economic Union concerning the simplified movement of containers across the EAEU customs border. The issues of increasing the efficiency of applying the customs transit procedure, as well as the exchange of information on fish catches and fish products were considered. The Working Group participants agreed to continue discussing the most sensitive issues. The next face-to-face meeting of the Working Group is scheduled to be held in May this year.

Maxim Ermolovich: "Meetings of regional competition organizations help develop more efficient competition policy around the world"
The Eurasian Economic Commission, with the support of the Egyptian Competition Authority, held a working meeting of representatives of regional competition organizations in Cairo. It was attended by Maxim Ermolovich, the EEC Minister in charge of Competition and Antitrust Regulation. Such events, which have become traditional on the initiative of the EEC specialized unit, help international regional organizations cooperate constructively on relevant matters and share experience. The focus of the fifth meeting was on practices for efficient competition regulation. "We promote the benefits of regional cooperation, strengthen and expand interregional dialogue, adapt best competitive practices to the needs of each region and generate new ideas, which ultimately leads to a more efficient competitive policy around the world," believes Maxim Ermolovich. The EEC will continue to hold meetings of regional competition organizations. The fifth meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Egyptian Competition Authority, representatives of UNCTAD, the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa, the East African Community, the West African Economic and Monetary Union, the Economic Community of West African States, the Arab Competition Network, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, BRICS and the Caribbean Community.

Bakytzhan Sagintaev congratulated Sadyr Japarov on Kyrgyz Republic's Constitution Day
Bakytzhan Sagintaev, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, congratulated Sadyr Japarov, President of the Kyrgyz Republic and Member of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, and all the Kyrgyz people on the Constitution Day. “The Constitution is a solid foundation of statehood, a reliable guarantor of sustainable development of the Kyrgyz Republic,” the congratulatory letter reads. “It is owing to the Constitution that the Kyrgyz people confidently move forward, enhance the unity of the nation, and protect their rights and interests.” Bakytzhan Sagintaev wished the Kyrgyz Republic and its people economic prosperity and well-being.

EEC and Government of Jordan to intensify interaction under memorandum of cooperation
Prospects for trade and economic dialogue between the Eurasian Economic Commission, the Eurasian Economic Union Member States and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan were discussed by Mikael Belluyan, Director of the EEC Integration Development Department, and Khalid Abdullah Shawabka, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the Russian Federation. Mikael Belluyan confirmed that the EEC supports the earlier proposals made by the Jordanian party to intensify the work, including under the Memorandum of Cooperation. The Director of the EEC Department initiated the first meeting of the joint working group in 2025, the agenda of which is proposed to include practical issues of intensifying trade and economic cooperation and shaping a joint action plan. Such events could be sectoral seminars on the Eurasian economic agenda for representatives of Jordanian official circles and business community. Khalid Abdullah Shawabka supported these proposals, adding that the Jordanian party is open for interaction and EEC initiatives and is ready to engage in them at a high level. The meeting participants agreed to address the issues of intensifying cooperation; for this purpose it is planned to establish interaction between the EEC and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Jordan. Mikael Belluyan invited the Jordanian Ambassador to Russia to participate in the Eurasian Economic Forum to be held in Minsk in June 2025. The Memorandum of Cooperation between the EEC and the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan was concluded in 2017. According to the document, the parties intend to cooperate in such areas as regional economic integration; analysis of economic development and macroeconomic situation; customs regulation; technical regulation; application of sanitary, veterinary and phytosanitary quarantine measures; finance; transportation; energy; the agricultural sector; competition policy and antitrust regulation; industry; intellectual property; information technology; trade in services and investments; business development; public procurement; other areas of mutual interest.

EEC discussed mechanisms of interstate cooperation in pedigree livestock breeding within EAEU
As part of the international exhibition AGROBRICS+ within MVC: Cereals-Mixed Feed-Veterinary, the Agricultural Policy Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission held a round table On the Establishment of the Centers of Expertise in Cattle Breeding. Representatives of public authorities, business unions, research institutions of the Eurasian Economic Union countries with the participation of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations discussed the most important areas and mechanisms of interstate cooperation to expand the use of technology to predict the breeding value of farm animals, including on the basis of genomic analysis. The concepts and models of the Eurasian genomic selection system proposed by the speakers and supported by the discussion participants, as well as approaches to joint selection and genetic research and exchange of experience can be implemented in the framework of coordination and analytical support of selection and breeding through Eurasian centers of competence in pedigree livestock breeding. "The results of the round table will be the subject of the Commission's further consideration and elaboration of agreed mechanisms of interstate cooperation for sustainable development of livestock breeding in the Union states based on wide introduction of genomic selection and highly effective reproductive technologies," summarized Naira Karapetyan, Director of the EEC Agricultural Policy Department.

EEC discussed problems and joint actions to develop digital economy in EAEU agricultural sector
The headquarters of the Eurasian Economic Commission hosted a round table dedicated to developing digital economy in the agricultural sector of the Eurasian Economic Union. Naira Karapetyan, Director of the EEC Agricultural Policy Department, spoke about the establishment of a digital ecosystem within the framework of the EAEU integrated information system, touching upon the issues of data exchange on varieties of agricultural plants, breeding animals and selection achievements, as well as an interactive agricultural industry map. "From June 1, 2026, the practical implementation of the Agreement on the Rules of Release (Issue), Circulation and Redemption of Warehouse Certificates for Agricultural Products will start, which will give a new impetus to the development of agricultural e-commerce," Naira Karapetyan informed the round table participants. The round table participants shared their experience in implementing digital solutions in crop and livestock production, including precision farming technologies, farm automation, etc. The event reaffirmed the importance of the digital transformation of the EAEU agricultural sector and the need for joint efforts of the Member States to create an efficient ecosystem to improve the competitiveness of this economic sector. The round table was attended by representatives of the ministries of agriculture, businesses of the EAEU countries and international experts.

Gohar Barseghyan: "EAEU countries are actively developing cooperation ties with the Republic of Uzbekistan"
On April 28-29 in Tashkent, Gohar Barseghyan, Minister in charge of Industry and Agriculture of the Eurasian Economic Commission, took part in the opening ceremony of the INNOPROM. Central Asia international industrial exhibition. The key event of the exhibition was the plenary session "Strategic Industrial Partnership in Central Asia: Regional Integration Based on Advanced Technologies", where Gohar Barseghyan made a report on the priorities of industrial cooperation of the Eurasian Economic Union states and the prospects for developing cooperative ties with Uzbek enterprises. "The EAEU countries are actively developing cooperation ties with the Republic of Uzbekistan. There may be promising joint projects in machine building, aircraft construction, chemical and light industry. Both the EAEU countries and Uzbekistan are interested in their implementation and increasing output in these areas," Gohar Barseghyan noted. On the sidelines of the exhibition Gohar Barseghyan held a working meeting with Ersaiyn Nagaspaev, Minister of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan. They discussed promising areas of cooperation within the EAEU. Besides, Gohar Barseghyan paid a visit to Tashtib-Tex LLC, an enterprise of Tashkent Textile Combine, to discuss issues related to the development of cooperation in light industry and within the framework of implementing the Joint Action Plan of the EEC and the Government of Uzbekistan for 2024-2026.

Six BRICS countries entered third Green Eurasia Climate Competition
April 30 is the last day of accepting entries for the third international Green Eurasia climate competition organized by the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Agency for Strategic Initiatives to Promote New Projects. To date, documents have been received from all five countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as from such key EAEU trading partners as China, India, Iran and Uzbekistan. In addition, entries were submitted by representatives of South Africa, Ethiopia, Bulgaria, Moldova, Tajikistan and Senegal, significantly expanding the geography of the competition. "I would also like to point out the qualitative improvement in the entries coming in this year. It will not be easy for the experts and the competition board to choose the best: almost all projects look worthy to qualify for the highest places and to be scaled up globally," mentioned Andrey Slepnev, the EEC Minister in charge of Trade. The award ceremony for the winners and runners-up, as well as presentations of their projects, will be held as part of the Eurasian Economic Forum in Minsk, timed to coincide with the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meeting.
