The meeting of the relevant Advisory Committee of the Eurasian Economic Commission determined the areas of work related to implementing the Joint Action Program of the Eurasian Economic Union countries on consumer rights protection, which will be a priority in 2024. The relevant recommendation for the Union countries will be presented at the meeting of the Commission's Board in Q1 of next year.
According to this Program, the theme for 2024 is "Consumer and Entrepreneur: Trust for Development".
Viktor Nazarenko, Chairman of the Advisory Committee – EEC Minister in charge of Technical Regulation, noted: "The interstate program in the field of consumer rights protection of the Union has brought the countries' joint work to a systematic planned level. The results of such work will lay the groundwork for the progressive formation of favorable conditions for social and economic development of the Eurasian "five" countries, based on a harmonious balance of interests of the government, society and business".
EEC Minister Viktor Nazarenko has stressed that an open and comprehensive discussion at the Member States' level of the problems of interaction between the consumer and the entrepreneur creates a foundation for working out efficient Union solutions aimed at developing a transparent and fair consumer market of the Union.
The meeting participants considered the problems of legal regulation of the activities conducted by public consumer organizations in the EAEU, as presented in the review prepared by the Commission.
The draft recommendation of the EEC Board, prepared on the initiative of the members of the Advisory Committee of the Republic of Belarus to support the activities of consumer public associations in the EAEU Member States, was approved.
Relevant matters of consumer rights protection in rendering financial and legal counseling services, as well as after-sales service and repair of technically sophisticated goods were discussed.
Following the meeting, a plan of further work aimed at solving the set objectives and improving the efficiency of implementing a coordinated policy in the field of consumer rights protection in the Union countries was outlined.

The theme of the year is determined annually in accordance with the Joint Action Program of the EAEU countries in the field of consumer rights protection. In 2023, the joint work of the countries is carried out under the motto "Literate Consumer – Responsible Business".
