07 Oct 2025 Maksim Yermalovich: “The EEC adapts to the rapidly changing realities of the modern world” On October 7 in Astana, Maksim Yermalovich, Minister in charge of Competition and Antitrust Regulation of the Eurasian Economic Commission, took part in the plenary session of the 11th Eurasian Antitrust Forum “Antitrust Platform: Key Challenges and Trends in the Field of Competition.” Maksim Yermalovich presented the main directions and measures taken by the Commission to adapt competition policy to contemporary challenges. He also informed about some efforts to improve the Eurasian Economic Union's law to ensure transparency and predictability of the regulation process, as well as the introduction of a new tool for the EEC's proactive actions – sector studies. “The synergy between methodology and practice enables us to respond to contemporary challenges in an adequate and timely manner – academic perspective and scientific expertise should be closely aligned with the practical approach of national and supranational competition authorities. Based on this priority, we actively promote initiatives relating to methodology of science as part of our competition advocacy activities," Maksim Yermalovich noted. Separately, the EEC Minister dwelled on a number of initiatives put forward by the Competition Unit. These include educational courses, 5+1 consultations to address relevant matters with competition authorities of the Member States and Observer States, and a dialogue between regional organizations on competition issues. The Eurasian Antitrust Forum is a high-level professional platform for the exchange of experience between public authorities, the expert and business communities on issues of competition protection and antitrust regulation in national and transboundary markets of the Eurasian continent.

07 Oct 2025 EEC adopted recommendation on creating and maintaining national registers of agricultural crop varieties On October 7, the Eurasian Economic Commission's Board adopted a recommendation on unified approaches to creating and maintaining national registers of agricultural plant varieties in the Eurasian Economic Union countries. The document was adopted in accordance with the decision of the Heads of Member States and aims to harmonize the EAEU countries' legislation in the field of agricultural crop variety testing. “The uniformity of information provided by the Union countries’ authorized bodies from national registers will ensure the proper functioning of the unified register of varieties and inform agricultural producers within the EAEU about the best and most valuable plant varieties in terms of quality for their introduction into agricultural production,” noted Gohar Barseghyan, EEC Minister in charge of Industry and Agriculture. According to Article 4 of the Agreement on Circulation of  Agricultural Plants Seeds within the EAEU, the Commission forms a unified register of agricultural plant varieties to provide informational support for activities related to the circulation of their seeds within the Union.

07 Oct 2025 Amendments made to lists of standards to technical regulations on fire safety and fire extinguishing equipment On October 7, the Eurasian Economic Commission's Board amended the lists of standards to the Eurasian Economic Union's Technical Regulation “On requirements to fire safety and fire extinguishing equipment.” The lists of standards have been supplemented with two interstate standards: GOST 34350-2017 “Fire-fighting machinery. Fire extinguishing trucks. General technical requirements. Test methods” and GOST 34996-2023 “Fire-fighting machinery. Fire lamps. General technical requirements. Test methods”. Besides, the lists include two national standards: GOST R 58716-2019 "Fire-fighting machinery. Fire-fighting filter respirators for the protection of respiratory organs and eyes, used in extinguishing natural fires in the open air. General technical requirements. Test methods“ and GOST R 58446-2019 ”Fire-fighting machinery. Set of equipment for personnel of gas rescue service. General technical requirements. Test methods”. The amendments come into effect after 180 calendar days have elapsed from the date of official publication of the EEC Board's decision. The amendments were prepared by the Commission as part of implementing Subparagraph “a” of Paragraph 36 of the Procedure for Development and Approval of the Lists of International and Regional (interstate) Standards.

07 Oct 2025 Gohar Barseghyan: “By combining competencies within the EAEU, we will enhance the technological sovereignty” Gohar Barseghyan, Minister in charge of Industry and Agriculture of the Eurasian Economic Commission, informed about the successful launch of the financial support mechanism for industrial cooperation within the Eurasian Economic Union and its expansion to the agricultural sector during the session “Technologies for Life” of the Bioprom Forum held in Gelendzhik, the Krasnodar Territory. According to the EEC Minister, the Union now has a real financial support tool for cooperative projects, which makes it possible to create new production facilities or modernize existing ones, including in the pharmaceutical and agricultural sectors. “Our States have high potential for manufacturing such products. I am convinced that by combining competencies, we will be able to make a significant leap in enhancing the technological sovereignty of each country in the Eurasian Five,” the EEC Minister noted. As part of the business program, Gohar Barseghyan had a look at the cutting-edge developments of food industry and agriculture enterprises. She also participated in a business breakfast with heads of industrial companies, representatives of banks and development institutions, where she invited the business community to actively participate in the EAEU cooperative projects.  

06 Oct 2025 Arzybek Kozhoshev held meeting with Republic of Kazakhstan's Transport Minister Nurlan Sauranbaev On October 3, as part of his working visit to Astana (Kazakhstan), Arzybek Kozhoshev, the EEC Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure, held negotiations with Nurlan Sauranbaev, Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan.

06 Oct 2025 All-Russian procurement conference discussed national treatment in EAEU public procurement At a specialized all-Russian conference in Sochi, Zhanar Adikova, Director of the Department for Competition and Public Procurement Policy of the Eurasian Economic Commission, told about ensuring national treatment in public procurement within the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as the processes and trends in its digitalization.

06 Oct 2025 Bakhyt Sultanov: "Over five years, about 53 million counterfeit goods were seized in the EAEU" From 2020 to 2024, the authorized authorities of the Eurasian Economic Union countries cut off the circulation of 53 million counterfeit product items. This statistics was provided by Bakhyt Sultanov, Minister in charge of Economy and Financial Policy of the Eurasian Economic Commission, at the plenary session of the 13th Anti-Counterfeiting 2025 International Forum being held on October 6–7 in Minsk.

06 Oct 2025 EAEU countries strengthen cooperation to protect consumers from counterfeit products On October 6 in Minsk, the Eurasian Economic Commission supported by the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade of the Republic of Belarus held a discussion session "The Eurasian Initiative: Joining Efforts to Protect Consumers from Counterfeit Products" at the 13th Anti-Counterfeiting 2025 International Forum.
