EEC Council zeroed import customs duty rates on sodium sulfides and cellulose ethers until year-end 2026
The Eurasian Economic Commission's Council adopted decisions to establish zero rates of import customs duty on sodium sulfides (code 2830 10 000 0 of the CN FEA of the EAEU) and cellulose ethers simple others (code 3912 39 850 0 of the CN FEA of the EAEU) for the period up to and including December 31, 2026.

EEC Council approved procedure for forming and maintaining EAEU register of chemical substances and mixtures and procedure for notification of new chemical substances
On August 1, 2025, the meeting of the Eurasian Economic Commission's Council adopted two “second level” documents to the Union's Technical Regulation “On safety of chemical products” (TR EAEU 041/2017) – the procedure for forming and maintaining the Union's register of chemical substances and mixtures and the procedure for notification of new chemical substances developed by the EEC jointly with the EAEU Member States.

EAEU approved rules for filing applications on control measures
At its meeting held on August 1, the Eurasian Economic Commission's Council approved the Procedure for consideration by the Eurasian Economic Commission of an application from the Eurasian Economic Union Member State on the validity of measures taken by the state control (supervision) body of another Member State in relation to products that do not comply with the requirements of the Union's technical regulations.

Bakytzhan Sagintaev held negotiations with Kazem Jalali, Iranian Ambassador to Russia
On July 31, Bakytzhan Sagintaev, Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission's Board, held a meeting at the EEC headquarters with Kazem Jalali, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Russian Federation. During the meeting, the two sides discussed topical issues of the Eurasian economic integration, including those related to the priorities of international activities of the integration association. In particular, there was a thorough exchange of views on promising areas of cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union countries and Iran within the framework of the full-fledged Free Trade Area Agreement, stipulating duty-free treatment for 90% of goods. Bakytzhan Sagintaev, Head of the EEC Board, emphasized that owing to the new format, trade and economic relations between the EAEU States and Iran had reached a new level of development. "We see significant progress in our countries' trade turnover, which increased by 14.6 percent to $5.9 billion in 2024. Exports from the EAEU States to Iran increased by 18%," Bakytzhan Sagintaev noted. The Chairman of the EEC Board has reported that the Commission attaches great importance to the detailed elaboration of the road map for implementing the Free Trade Area Agreement for the period from 2025 to 2028. The document is scheduled for approval at the September 2025 Joint Committee meeting. This will ensure coordinated progress of all planned areas of interaction. Following the meeting, the two sides have concurred that the EAEU countries and Iran have great potential for further development of cooperation in a number of areas, noting as particularly promising the development of transport and logistics infrastructure, expansion of cooperative ties between enterprises, cooperation in the agricultural sector, oil refining and petrochemical industries.
