EAEU defined Main Directions of Economic Cooperation in Sports
Today, the leaders of the Eurasian Economic Union five States approved the Main Directions of Economic Cooperation in Sports. The document, envisaged in the Strategy for Developing Eurasian Economic Integration until 2025, defines the main cooperation directions: the development of sports infrastructure, increased production of sports goods and their exchange, the development of sports industry services, including sports tourism, as well as the organization of joint forums and exhibitions. The geographical proximity of the Five countries and developed sports infrastructure are highlighted as the main factors of economic cooperation. "Together, these factors create a favorable basis for synergy and enhanced integration processes. Jointly, we will be able to provide citizens of the Union with quality sports products, develop sports infrastructure and bring economic cooperation in the field of sports to a new level," commented Bakhyt Sultanov, Minister in charge Economy and Financial Policy of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

EAEU summarized results of compliance with Rules for Regulating Trade in Services in 2023–2024
The Supreme Eurasian Economic Council reviewed the Report prepared by the countries' governments and the Eurasian Economic Commission on the results of monitoring the implementation by the Eurasian Economic Union States of the provisions of the Rules for Regulating Trade in Services, Incorporation and Activities in 2023–2024. The Report reflects key aspects of compliance with the Rules, in particular the application of business-friendly procedures in the states. These include regulatory impact assessment (RIA), application of the "silence implies consent" principle and introduction of a risk-based approach to business inspections. "We see positive dynamic in the incorporation of the Rules in the legislation of the participating countries. The report confirms that the implementation of conditions stipulated in the document reaches 100 percent. This is an important step toward creating transparent and comfortable conditions for business within the Union," said Bakhyt Sultanov, EEC Minister in charge of Economy and Financial Policy. The EEC Minister drew attention to the importance of implementing the principle "silence implies consent," according to which the competent public authority within the established time limit must either issue a relevant permit to the applicant or provide a reasonable rejection, otherwise the applicant automatically acquires the right to perform the activity for which the application was submitted. The Report for 2023–2024, as well as for prior periods, is available on the Commission's website.

Bakytzhan Sagintaev Held Negotiations with Prime Minister of Myanmar Min Aung Hlaing
On June 26 on the sidelines of the Eurasian Economic Forum in Minsk, Bakytzhan Sagintaev, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, held a working meeting with Min Aung Hlaing, Chairman of the State Administrative Council and Prime Minister of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. The parties discussed cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union countries and Myanmar in accordance with the Memorandum of Cooperation. "Since the signing of the Memorandum, positive dynamics has been observed on a wide range of economic agenda items of our cooperation," Bakytzhan Sagintaev noted. "The EAEU states' trade turnover with Myanmar has more than tripled in 2019–2024, exceeding $1.5 billion." The Head of the EEC Board emphasized that raising awareness with the parties about each other's trade and economic opportunities will create the necessary conditions for developing interaction. At the end of the meeting Bakytzhan Sagintaev and Min Aung Hlaing agreed that interaction between the business circles will give additional impetus to the dialogue between the EAEU and Myanmar. This will also make it possible to identify new promising areas of cooperation. The key exports of Myanmar to the EAEU countries are rice, coffee, palm oil and cocoa beans. Imports to Myanmar are dominated by mineral fertilizers, consumer goods, machinery and equipment, metals, edible oils, cement and medicines.

Bakytzhan Sagintaev, "Joining economic potentials can multiply the effect of mutually beneficial cooperation"
On June 26, Bakytzhan Sagintaev, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, took part in the panel session "Dialogue of Interstate Associations: Convergence of Economic Potentials and Deepening Trade and Economic Cooperation" at the Eurasian Economic Forum in Minsk. "Dialogue of integrations" is one of the main development trends of the global economy. The leaders of all five countries of the Union never fail to emphasize the importance of incorporating the Eurasian Economic Union into the global system of trade and economic relations," Bakytzhan Sagintaev emphasized. The Head of the EEC Board noted that the Commission jointly with the Member States created the necessary infrastructure for a systemic international dialogue. There are 12 memoranda of cooperation with regional interstate associations. Dialogue with them serves as a foundation for the exchange of experience and increasing the pace of trade and economic cooperation. The Commission and the Union have an extensive network of contacts around the world, including Eurasia, Latin America and Africa. Among the key partners with which the dialogue is successfully developing are the CIS, SCO, ASEAN, Mercosur, BRICS, CICA, Andean Community, Southern Common Market, African Union, Pacific Alliance and others. The main instrument for expanding the geography of partnership is trade agreements. They are concluded with Vietnam, Iran, Serbia, China, and negotiations on an agreement with Indonesia are at the final stage. On June 27, two more trade agreements are scheduled to be signed on the sidelines of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meeting — with the UAE and Mongolia. "Today the EAEU is interested not only in adopting the positive experience of other organizations in integration development. As an established association, we are ready to offer our partners our own best practices. Joining our economic potentials can multiply the effect of mutually beneficial cooperation," summarized the Head of the EEC Board.

Bakytzhan Sagintaev: "Our task is to make all processes in the EAEU faster, more convenient and safer"
On June 26, a plenary session of the Eurasian Economic Forum "Strategy of Eurasian Economic Integration: Results and Prospects" took place in Minsk. The keynote speakers of the event were the Heads of State of the Eurasian Economic Union: Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia; Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus; Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Sadyr Japarov, President of the Kyrgyz Republic; Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation; as well as Bakytzhan Sagintaev, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission. The Forum was attended by the guests of honor: Miguel Mario Diaz-Canel Bermudez, President of the Republic of Cuba; Min Aung Hlaing, Prime Minister of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar; Laureano Ortega Murillo, Special Representative of the Co-Presidents of the Republic of Nicaragua for Cooperation with the Republic of Belarus. During the Forum, Bakytzhan Sagintaev, Chairman of the EEC Board, presented the results of the Union's functioning and prospects for further integration development. "Since its founding, the Eurasian Economic Union has demonstrated sustainable development dynamics," Bakytzhan Sagintaev emphasized. "Over the ten years, the aggregate GDP of the EAEU countries has grown by almost 18%: from $1.6 trillion in 2014 to $2.6 trillion in 2024. The Union's share in the global economy increased to 4.2%. Mutual trade turnover has doubled and reached about $100 billion as of year-end 2024. Moreover, 93% of settlements are made in national currencies. Exports of services between the EAEU countries have increased by 86%. The unemployment rate has fallen to 3%." Among the important results of the integration association's activity, the head of the EEC Board named a high degree of liberalization in the labor market, the operation of a common market of services in 142 economic sectors, the elimination of more than 100 obstacles to trade, the adoption of 52 technical regulations, and a food security level of 92%. A mechanism of financial support for industrial cooperation projects has been launched to develop the real sectors of the economy. Given the high pace of digital transformation in all areas of economy, there is an ongoing work to create a common digital space. "This will serve to simplify the interaction between public authorities, businesses and citizens. Our task is to make all processes faster, more convenient and safer. Digitalization of customs procedures, for example, has reduced the time required to release goods six times," noted Bakytzhan Sagintaev. Over the decade, the Eurasian Economic Union's position in the international arena has been significantly reinforced. This is evidenced by the growth of foreign trade turnover by almost 40%. "We are going to continue cooperation in such areas as providing the Union's common market with key goods and resources; promoting the development of transport and logistics potential and cooperation. We will take into account the experience of integration cooperation, national interests and the fundamentals of the Treaty on the EAEU," summed up the Chairman of the EEC Board.
